Reading notes
Apr. 29th, 2010 06:58 am Finished up Darrell Schweitzer's anthology Cthulhu's Reign, consisting entirely of stories in which Cthulhu et al have taken over the world. Very good stuff. Grim, of course, but duh. There's one piece that just outright clunked for me, but it's by Richard Lupoff and I'm prepared to acknowledge at this point that I simply have a blind spot with Lupoff - too many people I like find merit in his work that just escapes me. Several outright jewels, going off in very, very different directions from the simple starting point.
I've been altogether blocked on significant writing lately but would like to get a review of this written for Tor. We'll see if I can manage that. In the meantime, it's very much recommended if you're the sort of person who looks at the premise and thinks "That could be interesting, done well." It is in fact done well.
