Yup, more rain this morning, and therefore, more photos. Plus commentary on a package that arrived today.

Look, it really is a flower bed!

Note that Ken and Robin have failed to create a game more interesting than my laundry or my cat's own butt:

First of all, what I saw when coming home from the sleep institute appointment:

Now for pictures from Sunday's walk. To begin with, I'd really appreciate it if people like Ken Hite, Chad Underkoffler, and Patrick O'Duffy wouldn't sneak around in my neighborhood setting up props for their sundry campaigns:

And other things seen:

I see it's been three days since pictures. Sorry, fans, it's simply been a distracting time on other fronts. But I did get in an early morning walk today; let's see what of it is worth showing.

It was a day of Stuff with a capital S yesterday and I didn't feel especially inspired in picture-taking. But I did notice some good skies that came out fairly well. And on my way home, this pretty kitty demanded my attention. She didn't want to be petted, or do get any closer. She just wanted me to admire her, which I did, and talk to her some, which I did. I started to move on, and she meowed very loudly until I stayed some more and took a picture. She still wasn't satisfied. Another picture, and finally she was willing to let me move on.

Parallels to my experience in gaming creation are left as an exercise for the reader.

I have a set of pictures taken on Monday's walk up at Flickr.

Tuesday, it rained as I went to counseling. Rain means photo opportunities. Here you go. (And, of course, a bunch more in the day's set at Flickr, too.)

Me:

Right outside my front door:

My favorite pavement in town:

Behind the cut tag, lots more, including a mythological referents question.

I needed to run an errand this morning, so got my walk in early. Some more super macro images ensue.

Another of regular macro, super macro, super macro images, and some splashes of color. There are times and moods when these strike me as almost abstract, particularly when I've just been rereading Borges and such. Neither the rereading or the perception are the subject of complaint, though - I like sometimes thinking of the world in such terms.

(As usual, the set is at Flickr.)

Here's the super macro in action, one shot with the regular macro and two that go in closer than I could get with that, thanks to new (to me) super macro!

Behind the cut, another such trio, and some texture studies.

This morning I was at the doctor's again, but not for any new problems. It's time to test my blood chemistry a bunch of ways, so he drew a lot of blood and we talked about how things seem to be going. I'll be trying an additional blood pressure medication, the details of which I'll mention when I pick up the prescription and remember what it is. :)

In the meantime, pictures:

I felt like trying out some black-and-white photography, and also experimenting with the super macro options my camera has that I only just learned about. So here are a few choice images, and more behind the cut tag, and the whole set on Flickr.

I think this is my favorite of the lot:

With this close behind:

This is good, I think, for the subtle contrasts between multiple layers of cloud:

I've always felt that this sculpture felt like something that belonged in the d20 Gamma World milieu.

It rained quite a lot on Monday, leaving behind just the sort of legacy I have fun photographing. This is a bigger than usual update for me, with some behind a cut tag so as not to flood you all, but there are some things I want to call particular attention.

First of all, Mount Rainier put in an appearance, and it's uncommon enough to be worth remarking and photographing. There's a lot of distance between it and my neighborhood, and it takes good atmospheric conditions for this to work out:

IMG_1381

Next, this subdued little bouquet. What I want to point out here is that I got this picture while sitting on the sidewalk, shooting up...and you know, it's been years since obesity and weakness let me do that without utter agony. I'm still pretty stiff and not good at clambering up and down, but at least I could do it:

IMG_1398

Now some raindrops on leaves and flowers:

IMG_1389

More of that, and a couple more "they make no mention of the beauty of decay" moments, below the cut tag. Oh, and what wasn't the biggest looming dog in the neighborhood.

We said "Happy Mother's Day" to Mom with flowers, which were delivered yesterday and which she's loving. Today, sundry images.

First things first, and around here that means a Montano picture:

IMG_1360

One of those days again in these parts, and I got to walk in shirt sleeves. Felt great:

IMG_1361

Pansies are among my favorite flowers, and this particular overflowing window box pleases me:

IMG_1363

I'm particularly happy at getting the contrasting light and shade relatively well. Needs work, but I'm getting there.

And finally, just because they're pretty:

IMG_1365
It occurs to me that I haven't shared here photos of stuff I got myself for my birthday last October. Here's one of them now, acquired from a Pike's Place Market shop that specializes in Native American art from the Pacific Northwest:

She usually lives on my desk, keeping an eye on the clutter as it comes and goes, but I took her to the back porch railing for a better view.
I'm accustomed to living in neighborhoods with a fairly high fraction of red front doors, generally displaying their owners' sense of class. It turns out that this is unusual in Frances's experience. How about y'all?

There were some exceptional clouds on display as I went do and from counseling this week. A couple views:

IMG_1327

IMG_1328

(I'm also pleased with the saturation of the brick shades in this second one.)

Today I've got a cold, unfortunately - an opportunistic raider exploiting my fatigue, I think. I had some chicken broth, and so of course Montano needed some too. Today's dynamic action shot:

IMG_1330
The Olympic Peninsula put on a particularly gorgeous display yesterday:

IMG_1322

I like this for capturing the moment of a gust of wind:

Do you suppose they confessed?

IMG_1317

And finally, in the "we just didn't see that in Pasadena" department:

IMG_1324
Another day, another walk, and there was a lot to enjoy yesterday.

Another tragic mailbox accident, that could have been avoided if people would just stop messing with the permeability of matter. Won't someone think of the mailboxes?

IMG_1306

Obviously this one won't. I don't know if the photo captures just really how profoundly blissful a nap in the garden that was:

IMG_1298

Bike safety course time! I remember doing this as a kid. But I've mostly lived in neighborhoods without a lot of kids, so haven't seen this in quite a while. I'm glad to know it continues:

IMG_1299

Neither Frances nor I have any idea what these are, but they sure are beautiful:

IMG_1300

IMG_1303

(First person to say "They're flowers, Bruce" meets my ignore list. :)

And my fascination with rust and decay continues:

IMG_1304
I've got a killer headache today; I assume it's my body adapting to the trazodone and that it'll pace. (Yes, I've sent e-mail to my doctor to double-check that.) In the meantime, some stuff from yesterday's walk:

IMG_1283

Hundreds of years before the dawn of history lived a strange race of people...the Druids. No one knows who they were or what they were doing, but it apparently includes gardening in Seattle:
